As a local producer of the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region, you are invited to be part
of this project aiming to explore local food surplus.
This project was created in response to conversations between members of The Community Plate and the Mornington Peninsula Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy Taskforce, and aims to:
For the purpose of this project, we are primarily interested in food surplus – meaning food that is edible but does not leave the farm gate or does not make it far along the supply chain (this is distinct from food waste, which is concerned with the end of the supply chain).
Why are you invited?
You have been invited to be a part of this project as a valued local producer who markets fresh or freshly made food and drinks (excluding alcohol) and operates within the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Frankston City Council region.
What does the project involve?
The project includes an invitation to complete an anonymous Short Survey and/or attend a Discussion Group exploring local challenges and solutions.
Benefits and risks
This project may provide future benefits for local producers by supporting the creation of alternative local distribution streams and sales avenues for local food surplus. There are no foreseeable risks in participation, other than the time spent on completing the survey and/or attending a discussion group.
Confidentiality
Everything you contribute via the survey will remain anonymous and will not be individually identifiable. The findings will be documented in a report and/or presented at events such as relevant meetings, forums and conferences.
Data
The Community Plate will collect your responses using SurveyMonkey and data will be stored on the secure Peninsula Health and Mornington Peninsula Shire password protected networks. Access to the data will only be possible by members of the Peninsula Health Health Promotion Team and the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Agribusiness and Agroecology Team.
Results
A final report will be prepared once the survey responses and discussion group data has been analysed. You will be able to access the final report by contacting The Community Plate on the email below.
