From the fertile fields of the Mornington Peninsula to the tables of chef-hatted restaurants and the shelves of supermarkets and grocers across Australia, the Mornington Peninsula has a reputation as one of Australia’s premiere food producing regions.
Mornington Peninsula Produce (MPP) is a guarantee that products bearing the logo are grown, bred or raised right here, in this incredibly fertile and productive part of the world – the Mornington Peninsula. Through the logo and its associated activities Council aims to raise the profile of the Mornington Peninsula as a bountiful food bowl and encourage consumers to go the extra mile to support local and eat seasonally straight from the source.
In 2015 Council partnered with Industry through the Food Industry Advisory Body (FIAB) to launch Australia’s first ACCC certified food provenance mark. The launch of MPP was a key action of Council’s first Local Food Strategy. From 2016 – 2020 MPP grew to include over 40 registered businesses, a website, social media channels, promotional activities and regular networking, learning and industry events.
In 2023 Council commissioned the Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy which identified, through extensive consultation, that provenance promotion activities – with the backbone of the trusted MPP brand – would be pivotal to building a resilient and diverse food supply chain for our community. In 2024 this has resulted in increased resourcing of MPP and the delivery of a number of exciting initiatives including:

As a Council initiative MPP works closely with our Tourism, Business and Industry Support, and Events teams to deliver a coordinated suite of regional promotion and industry development programs. With a new MPP Marketing and Communications plan being implemented in 2025 there are a number of exciting initiatives which we are looking forward to delivering with the MPP business community.
