The Mornington Peninsula Small Business Festival is a program of events and activities that makes learning about business easy.  Across the month of August, events are designed to help businesses better understand their business, find answers to their questions and connect with other businesses. 

The festival program is curated by the Business and Industry Support team of the Mornington Peninsula Shire with events and activities run by a range of organisations, including business and industry associations, government bodies, community organisations, local business experts – and many more. 

Ways to get involved 

Running a Small Business Festival is a great way to connect with your local community and deliver valuable and accessible information. 

There are many ways to deliver information and creativity in events is more than welcome.  A Small Business Festival activity should cover a relevant business topic and could be delivered as a: 

If your organisation already runs business education activities, these may be able to be included in the program. They would just need to be scheduled during the Small Business Festival so that you can benefit from the increased profile.

To be accepted into the Small Business Festival program, your event must meet our criteria.

Charging for events  

In the spirit of the Small Business Festival, it is our preference that as many members of the business community are able to participate as possible. Program inclusion priority will be given to no-cost and low cost events and events that are accessible and sustainable. 

Support available to event organisers

The Shire’s Business and Industry Support team is here to provide you with support to help ensure your activity is as effective as possible.   

Organisers of events included in the program receive: 

  • Access to the Shire’s Business and Industry Support team, to discuss your ideas and receive advice to help you develop an effective Small Business Festival activity 
  • Access to online resources for Small Business Festival event organisers, with tips for effective planning, marketing and delivery of your activity 

  • Event listing in the official program on the Shire’s dedicated business website; mpbusiness.com.au 
  • A Facebook post about your activity on the official MP Business Facebook channel 
  • Opportunity to meet with the Shire’s Business and Industry Support team to receive advice about your self-managed promotional activities 
  • Opportunity to benefit from the Shire’s marketing campaign for The Small Business Festival, which aims to drive visitation to the program on the MP Business website 
  • Opportunity to have an article based on your Small Business Festival event published on the Shire’s dedicated business website; mpbusiness.com.au 
  • Promotional packs of Small Business Festival brochures and posters 
  • Promotional assets and designs tailored to your event.
