Businesses can only enter one category. Those with diverse offerings should choose the category that reflects them best.

The form gives you a chance to answer three (3) key questions about your business. There is a maximum word count of 1000 words per question. This information is used to determine a shortlist of entrants in each category. Each shortlisted business will receive a site visit from the judges to validate their answers and gain deeper insight into the business.

Business experts drawn from knowledgeable and experienced business people from the Small Business Mentoring Service assess all the entrants, shortlist those for site visit judging.

This panel of judges then determine the finalists and winners in each category.

Each shortlist interview will take around 45 minutes.

Two judges visit your business and complete a detailed assessment across a range of criteria related to the written submission and your business.

There are three main questions that need to be answered:

  1. Business Excellence: What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
  2. Business Innovation: What new or creative ideas did you implement to address challenges or leverage opportunities in the last 12 months, and how did they change and improve your business?
  3. Business Sustainability: How does your business practice environmental sustainability in your category and how did you implement those practices?

Each answer has a 1000 word limit.

Every entrant, regardless of the outcome, receives a submission assessment report.

This is a great tool for benchmarking your application.
