An interesting opportunity is now available to participate in Project Ag Resilience: benchmarking agroecology credentials and climate smart practices in Melbourne’s Foodbowl.
Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions are open to all commercial farmers on the Mornington Peninsula who are currently experimenting with, or curious about regenerative or agroecological practices, who would be willing to host a demonstration site on their property as part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Ag-resilience project.
The Ag-resilience project is funded through the Federal Government’s Climate Smart Agriculture program. The 3 year program is being delivered in collaboration with Melbourne Water and five other regional partners. The program will deliver a range of activities including field days, training activities, demonstration sites and certification schemes to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills to better adapt their farming operations to a changing climate.
Key focus of the demonstration site: to monitor and measure agroecological farming practices, the effects on soil health, farm productivity and environmental impact in comparison with ‘conventional’ practices.
The demonstration site will be established from July 2025 and will run for 3 years to June 2028. The focus of the demonstration site is flexible and the project team are keen to hear from farmers who have ideas about products, practices or methods you’d like to trial.

The results obtained aim to provide quantifiable data which will help inform the wider farming community and provide valuable information to assist farmers in their future management decisions.
