Latest visitor numbers to the Mornington Peninsula now available

Tourism Research Australia has released the latest survey results from the National and International Survey on visitation for the year from 1 March 2023 to 31 March 2024.
Key results for the Mornington Peninsula for the year ending March 2024
The Mornington Peninsula tourism region received 8 million visitors during this time. This figure is down only slightly by 1% on the previous period 1 March 2022 to 31 March 2023.
Breakdown of the 8 million visitors
5.9m (74.7%) were daytrip visitors from within Australia
1.9m (24.8%) were overnight visitors from within Australia
42,000 (0.5%) were overnight visitors from overseas
There is no change to the overall spend by domestic visitors who spent $1.8b in the region during this period.
Daytrip visitors from within Australia spent, on average, $124 per visitor.
Spend per overnight visitor from within Australia
Interstate overnight visitors spent $190 per night
Intrastate overnight visitors spent $220 per night
Out of all of Victoria’s regions (excluding Melbourne), the Mornington Peninsula ranks #1 for domestic daytrippers, #6 for domestic overnight visitors, and #5 for international overnight visitors.
