The Mornington Peninsula boasts a wide range of industries, each with its own unique characteristics. More than 40 towns and villages dot the Peninsula and showcase the region's business diversity.

The peninsula is home to more than 17,000 businesses, across a wide range of industry sectors. While tourism is an important part of our economy – and our lifestyle – there are opportunities for agriculture, plus our region also has a thriving health, construction and retail sectors.

The Mornington Peninsula has a diverse local economy including tourism, agriculture, retail, manufacturing, construction and business services. The region has a distinguished agricultural history with many of the existing food and wine producers being recognised as world class and industry leaders in their respective fields.

This region is home to one of Australia’s most vibrant tourism industries, offering an ever expanding range of attractions and events. The local economy is growing in terms of its overall size and level of employment, and is changing both in terms of the relative contribution of various industry sectors and the employment they generate.
