Navigate the approval process for a new food business on the Mornington Peninsula.

The local food industry is an important part of the Mornington Peninsula economy, and the Shire is keen to help new food businesses through the approval and registration process.

Food safety is important to lower the incidence of foodborne illness and maintain the Peninsula’s reputation for safe, healthy and sustainable food. Before opening, each food business must register with the Shire under the Food Act 1984 and comply with National Food Safety Standards.

This free, in-person seminar will help business owners navigate the approval process for a new food business on the Mornington Peninsula. The Shire’s Environmental Health Team will provide information and resources to help with each part of this process, from premises design and plans approval to food safety processes, training standards and Best Bites certification.
