B.I.T.E Conference 2026 sparks ideas and connections

18 August 2026

The Mornington Peninsula business community came together in force on 5 August for the fifth annual B.I.T.E (Business, Innovation, Technology and Excellence) Conference at Mornington Racecourse. Widely recognised as one of the region’s premier business events, the conference brought together entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals and industry leaders for a day focused on growth, innovation and future-ready thinking.

This year the program was developed as a partnership between local business SMART Business Solutions and the Shire’s Business and Industry Support team. The event strongly aligned to the actions detailed in the Shire’s Economic Development and Tourism Strategy, delivering high quality industry development and networking outcomes.

With 275 registered attendees from hospitality, professional services, trades and construction, health and wellness, education, technology, real estate, creative industries and retail, the event showcased the strength and optimism of the local business sector, while providing valuable opportunities to learn, connect and collaborate.

The conference featured an impressive lineup of keynote speakers who challenged attendees to rethink the way they lead, operate and grow their businesses.

A standout presentation came from Grant Hackett OAM, Olympic gold medallist and Group CEO of Generation Development Group. Drawing on his experience as both an elite athlete and corporate leader, Hackett shared powerful lessons on resilience, high performance and leadership. His keynote explored the mindset required to succeed under pressure, the importance of accountability, and how a culture of excellence can drive outstanding results in any organisation.

Andrew Griffiths, Australia’s leading small business author and entrepreneurial futurist, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session on value, confidence and business differentiation. His message encouraged business owners to focus on building genuine value, standing out in competitive markets and confidently charging what their expertise is worth. Griffiths’ practical insights and storytelling resonated strongly with the audience.

Attendees also heard from Kate Christie, internationally recognised time management expert and best-selling author, who provided practical strategies to help business owners invest their time more effectively. Her presentation highlighted the importance of working with intention, prioritising what matters most and creating a sustainable approach to both business and personal success.

The conference’s Business Panel Discussion was another highlight of the day, showcasing the depth of experience and expertise within the local business community. The panel sparked engaging conversations around business growth, resilience, innovation and the future of work. Delegates appreciated hearing honest insights from business leaders who shared their successes, lessons learned and practical strategies for navigating an increasingly competitive business landscape.

A major highlight of the day was the vibrant business expo, featuring more than 30 local business stalls. Throughout the morning tea and lunch breaks, delegates had the opportunity to meet exhibitors, discover local products and services, exchange ideas and build valuable business connections. The expo created a dynamic networking environment and further demonstrated the breadth of talent and innovation that exists across the region.

The event also marked the launch of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Small Business Festival, reinforcing the region’s commitment to supporting local enterprise and economic development.

As the formal program concluded, attendees gathered for celebratory networking drinks, providing a relaxed setting to continue conversations, strengthen relationships and reflect on an inspiring day of learning and collaboration.

The success of B.I.T.E Conference 2026 highlights the importance of creating opportunities for local businesses to connect with experts, share experiences and explore new ideas. More than just a conference, B.I.T.E continues to serve as a catalyst for innovation, growth and community, helping to strengthen the business ecosystem across the Mornington Peninsula and beyond.
